My Peace
Under Sail

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Our daughter Jessi graduates from the University of Hawaii Dec 19, so Rose and I are off to Honolulu in the morning.  We will be in Honolulu until the 19th, then off to Maui where Jessi lives with her husband until the 28th.  No we’re not sailing, we are getting there via American airlines.
When we get back, Dr. Palmer is going to perform some of his fantastic handiwork and once again repair my left knee.  This time I’m not going to screw it up.  Getting tired of surgery, even though Dr. Palmer is a great person as well as being an outstanding surgeon.
Current plans are to be in Port Isabel, TX for the Laguna Madre Yacht Club Commodore’s Ball on Jan 15, then back to the boat to finish up installing our water maker, our new Mack Pack sail system, and some other minor stuff.
The quarter moon rising is 12 Feb and weather permitting we will depart from Port Aransas, TX heading for Key West, FL on our way to the Bahamas and points south in the eastern Caribbean.   Rose has decided instead of running back to Port Aransas every hurricane season we are going to stay out for 2 or 3 years, flying home on occasion to visit the kids.  We have also decided that we will take Chica and Mia with us this time.  Should be a very interesting 2 or 3 years.

A New Adventure Is Begining

My Peace and  crew are offically in the Christmas spirt having participated in the Port Aransas boat parade last Saturday night.  We had several friends onboard for the ride, Rose was the "hostess with the mostest"  She laid out a spread of snacks that far exceeded expectations.  The night was comfortabley warm, jackets were not required.  We went around the harbor twice then back to PA city docks for refreshments.  When we headed back to Island Moorings we left the lights on which confused a large tanker heading out to the gulf not to mention the poor ferryboat captians.

We are off to Hawaii on the 16th, flying, to return on the 28th.  After Christmas with the Kids, back to Port Aransas for final preperations for our journey south to Rotan, hopefully to depart mid Jan.  We will be sending out a detailed e-mail in the next few days, explaining My Peace and how she is equiped and a tenative "float plan" of our trip.
